Renovation Technician

How You Will Contribute

The Renovation Technician is responsible for renovating and updating our classic apartment homes. This includes, but is not limited to, repairs, replacements, and upgrades to plumbing, light fixtures, doors, and hardware. Demo and installation of kitchen backsplash, bathroom tile surrounds, and light construction modifications.

The Renovation Technician will ensure that all vacated apartments are thoroughly restored to “market-ready” status in a timely manner. They pay special attention to detail, as this will become a future resident’s new home.

Things You Will Do

  • Inspect vacated apartments and complete a make-ready checklist
  • Inform the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager of needed services and repairs
  • Routinely perform the following duties in order to restore the apartment to “market-ready” status:
    • Check all lights and replace as necessary
    • Replace or repair windows, latches, screens, hinges, sliding glass doors, shelves, baseboards, and mirrors
    • Check appliances and inform the Maintenance Supervisor of problems
    • Assist in changing or removing appliances from the apartment
    • Make keys
    • Check faucets and sink plugs and repair/replace as necessary
    • Assist with painting duties
    • Repair or replace mini-blinds, ceiling fans, etc.
    • Repair plaster holes in walls
    • Inspect bathroom tiles, perform minor repairs/replacements
    • Change A/C filters
    • Lend assistance during “trash-out,” move heavy/bulky items to the dumpster
  • Assist in keeping the grounds clean at all times
  • Assist with the maintenance team when requested
  • Deliver notices to all apartments
  • Report supply needs to the Maintenance Supervisor or the Community Manager
  • Think safety first and ensure that unsafe conditions are corrected promptly
  • Communicate effectively with residents, future residents, visitors, vendors, and team members while presenting a positive, professional image
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Service Supervisor or Community Manager

Things You Will Need

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • General knowledge of all things pertaining to property maintenance
  • Skill in the safe use and maintenance of power tools
  • Willingness to work a flexible workweek, including weekends
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Knowledgeable of pertinent laws, including EPA and OSHA regulations
  • Must be able to walk the propert,y which includes climbing stairs
  • Able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs, push, pull, reach, carry supplies, and stand for extended periods of time
